PAINTINGS & PRINTS GALLERY

"I am excited to introduce a new series of portrait paintings: the “Luminous Icons” Golden Era of Films, mixed media painted on reflective sheets of metal approximately 24 by 30 inches each. After years of experimentation, these avant-garde masterpiece gems are now available for acquisitions or new commission considerations for clients worldwide, depicting deterioration and chemistry changes on old silver nitrate films, due to temperature fluctuations while neglected in the big studio vaults for years. I saw a certain antiquated vintage beauty of picturesque emulsion skin separating and cascading from the old celluloid film, especially as a hands-on conservator gazing at the old paintings every day while restoring & conserving them. I had a paradoxical compulsion to create a conceptualizing series of paintings of movie stars once full of life and dialogue, prior residents of opulent mansions of Hollywood Hills now residing in a tin can silently. Thus, this perception became the springboard of my inspiration as a visual vernacular through my mind's eye, seeing fully realized visionary paintings depicting decaying portraits of film stars from old film clips as visual reference, exquisitely tarnished, beauteously metamorphic nostalgia recreated by my brush for overwhelming memorial and emotional response." © 2025 SYSPHERE, San Francisco.
